Goat Hole Cave

Located along the Spring Valley Nature Trail, the Goat Hole Cave is a protected cave in the Bukk Mountains. It was named after its triangular shaped entrance which is 6 x 6 meters in diameter. The entrance hall was used for summer barn and refuge for animals; hence the name Goat Hole. It is a very popular hiking destination due to its easy access.

Its caverns are of geological and biological significance, extending to a length of 480 meters and a depth of approximately 23 meters, rising 256 meters above sea level.

The cavern is walkable up to 100 meters in regular street clothes and it is free to explore further as long as you are exercising caution. It is a popular location for a large number of highly protected bat colonies. Known since ancient times, the first description of the cave was published in 1882 by Sandor Marki.
