Greek Orthodox Church - Búza Square (Búza tér, Miskolc - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

The Greek Orthodox Catholic Church has been standing at the busy Búza Square (Wheat Square) since 1912. The building was built in the 17th century by several settlers; Greek Catholic Ruthenians, Ruthenians and then Romanians, based on the plans of János Glatter, József Hrisz.

The interior is harmoniously beautiful. The icons were made in 1918 by the Rétay and Benedek Art Institute. The church cross was donated by the Miskolc Orthodox congregation. It was consecrated in 1912 in honor of the Holiness of Our Lady.

The style suggests Byzantine elements. In 2011, Miskolc once again became the seat of a Greek Catholic bishop, and the church received the cathedral rank. In 2015, a closed indoor garden was also created around the renewed church.

Patron saint celebrations:  The Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

The church is open to visitors during worship, as well as by appointment.
