Kós House
There is a historical building called Kós House at 32 Görgey Artúr Street. It was designed by Károly Kós in the late 1920s. The house was built in the early 1930s and became the residence of painter Zsigmond Imreh.
The freestanding base and fence of the villa are simply made of natural stone. The building has folk art nouveau features. This includes a tall roof, a semicircular extension and a carved wood decoration. The snow grips on the roof are completely unique. The façade of Görgey Street was partially covered by wild grapes, while the southern facade of Mikes Kelemen Street is in its original state.
The building was purchased by the City Council of Miskolc in 1985 and became the seat of a North Hungarian Group of the Hungarian Association of Architects and a Miskolc Town Building Association in 1987. In addition, the building serves as the headquarters of the individual organizations and has a permanent exhibition on architectural history.
