Rákóczi House
The former Baroque mansion on Széchenyi Street was once the first-floor "upper chamber" of Miskolc. The house was built by Ferenc Dőry, a merchant in Miskolc in the 1650s. The Miskolc Gallery’s Cellar was named after him; the Dőry Cellar operates in the building.
The mansion at No. 2 Rákóczi Street and the name of Ferenc Rákóczi II were linked together by the prince’s visits to the city. Ferenc Rákóczi II visited Miskolc twice. In 1706, he established his headquarters here in the Dőry Mansion. The sculptor Zsolt Jószai commemorates this with Rákóczi’s relief sculpture at the entrance of the gallery.
Since 1996, the historic building has been housing the Miskolc Gallery. Admission to the Gallery includes the tour of the historic building.
