Folks’ Garden

The Folks’ Garden is the third largest in the city, home to the biggest contiguous green space in the heart of the city. It is often a popular place for city events.

The park was created in the 1870s. In the 1980s it was called Elizabeth Park, named after the bust of Queen Elizabeth, the work of Alajos Stróbl. Currently, there is a copy of the bust in the park; the original is on display at the Ottó Herman Museum in the building on Görgey Street.

In addition to the statue of Sisi, the stately park of the Folks’ Garden host several great statues. Among them are the statues of Mihály Tompa, Mór Jókai and Genius.

Part of the Folks’ Garden is the building of the Miskolc Tavern (Vigadó), which currently houses a beer garden. At the edge of the park there is a children's playground.

The main sports center of Miskolc is also the Miskolc City Recreation Center, which includes the sports hall and ice skating rink.
