Szinva Terrace
Szinva Terrace is one of the newest and most popular public squares in Miskolc. The easiest way to get there is to enter from the intersection known as the Police Traffic Control Tower. The terrace was named after the Szinva Stream that transverses the city. It is bordered on the north by the Szinva River, on the east by Bertalan Szemere Street, on the south by Kandia Street and on the west by the Lovers’ Bridge.
The terrace stairs lead down to the artificial stream bank featuring a waterfall, created by the artifical elevation of the water level. The square features the popular Miskolc Girls statue by sculptor László Kutas which is a favorite among photo enthusiasts.
The small bridge closing off the square has been collecting padlocks left by couples creating a Miskolc tradition. Hence the bridge has been called the Lovers’ Bridge.
Across from the square on the other side of Szemere Street stands the statue of the famous Miskolc rescue dog, ”Paws”.
