Medieval Fair

Every year in July, the Diósgyőr Castle comes to life during the Medieval Fair; the castle grounds is bustling with crowds resembling Medieval Times.

In 2017, the Medieval Fair received the prestigious EFFE quality stamp awarded to remarkable arts festivals by the EU.

The Knights Tournament Arena provides entertainment with knight rallies along with equestrian and archery shows. Visitors can learn the ins and outs of medieval combat. Children can spend time in a real medieval playhouse, while the adults can enjoy shopping for arts and crafts at the fair, roaming the beautifully restored castle grounds and halls, including the queen’s quarters, baths, and knight hall, which is one of the biggest in Central Europe.
