Miskolc City Celebration

Miskolc celebrates its anniversary of becoming a city on May 11th every year; a tradition which was started in 1993. Miskolc received city status in 1909 when the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph granted the city a letter of privilege. This momentous event is celebrated at several downtown locations with a spectacular procession, concerts, fireworks and award ceremonies; one of which is the Miskolc Honorary Citizen Award.
