Miskolc Art Gallery – Petró House

Known as the Petró House, this exhibition hall was built in 1927. It is part of the Miskolc Art Gallery. The owner, Sándor Petró, was a well-known doctor nationwide who operated a state-of-the-art private office. His successful practice enabled him to pursue his love of art with a private collection. The doctor left behind a great legacy that enriched the collection of the Otto Herman Museum.

The Petro House became the property of the city and received a second-story addition according to the plans of architect Pál Krisztik. The first exhibition opened in 1992.

The gallery is also permanent home to the Szalay Collection consisting of artist Lajos Szalay’s art work. The upstairs houses the Kunszt Nagy Contemporary Art Museum since September 2008.

The Petró House can be visited by appointment only.
