Selmec Historic Memorial Library – Historic Book and Memorabilia Collection at the University of Miskolc

The Selmec Memorial Library is located at the University of Miskolc and offers a book exhibition titled ”From Selmec to Miskolc, 1735-1985”, as well as the treasures of Selmec mineral collection.

The University Historical Collection/Museum operates within the confines of Miskolc University Library, Archives and Museum, founded in 1985 as a specialized branch collection.

This library branch focuses on collecting objects and memorabilia related to the history and tradition of the university. They are a collection of historic items, symbols of student life and commencement ceremonies, including uniforms (special collectors’ items donated by former students and professors, e.g., the gruben, a traditional short, black jacket, and miners shirts), flags, class rings, medals, cups, axes, etc.

One of the main goals of this institution is preserving the traditions for future generations of students. The museum also has a very significant collection of photographs.

Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Appointments can be made after hours.

Admission is free, including guided tours.
