Almássy Mansion

One of the most prominent buildings in Miskolc is the former mansion of the Almássy family settled in the town between 1768 and 1793. It was built in the frequented area of the city in the Baroque style at Városház Square 13. It was later rebuilt several times allowing to also display the 19th century romantic elements. Its gate is of late Baroque or wig style, the columns of the staircase preserve a Classicistic style.

The mansion is considered one of the most beautiful architectural buildings in Miskolc. Interestingly, during a major gas explosion investigation in 1984, wall paintings were found in the rooms facing the street and the great hall, dating back to the time the building was first built.

The interior of the building is currently not open to the public.
